Birth can be beautiful, powerful, and physiologic, and YOU play a critical role in making that possible. This 8-hour live, online physiologic birth class is for new and experienced labor & delivery nurses who are ready to elevate their practice, change outcomes, and feel more confident at the bedside. All birth professionals are welcome, including doulas too!

physiologic birth class

Class Objectives:

  1. Identify the hormones of labor and how they contribute to physiologic birth
  2. Discuss the importance of the maternal pelvis, pelvic floor, ligaments, uterine muscle, and cardinal movements of the fetus and how they work together to facilitate physiologic birth
  3. Compare maternal positions and movements during labor and how they facilitate fetal descent
  4. Predict and identify fetal malpositions and how nurses can quickly respond to facilitate optimal fetal positioning
  5. Display proper use of various birth props such as sheets, birth balls, and peanut balls
  6. Identify causes for labor dystocia and create pathophysiologic solutions to reverse them
  7. Identify patients with a history of trauma and adapt care accordingly
  8. Demonstrate therapeutic communication techniques between nurse and patient
  9. Explain how understanding and pursuing physiologic birth can decrease cesarean birth rates and maternal morbidity/mortality

Why This Class Is Different

Made by L&D Nurses, for L&D Nurses: This is not a generic birth class. It’s built and taught by labor & delivery nurses who understand your workflow, time pressures, and the emotional weight of bedside care.

Interactive, Engaging, and Energizing: This is a live, online nurse training filled with visuals, demonstrations, multiple camera angles, models, group discussions, and hands-on activities.

Evidence-Based and Real-World: Everything Bundle Birth teaches is grounded in evidence and designed for the realities of the hospital. You’ll learn positioning strategies, how to support labor hormones, identify malpositions, manage labor dystocia, and navigate the real challenges you face on your unit.

More Than Training: A Catalyst for Culture Change: Yes, you’ll gain bedside skills. But you’ll also leave with advocacy tools and scripts to help shift practice patterns on your unit, reduce unnecessary interventions, and support more physiologic births (with and without an epidural).

Your Foundation for Advanced Growth: This class is your springboard into advanced learning like our Pushing Class and Speedy Inductions Class as well. It lays the foundation labor & delivery nurses need to grow in confidence and leadership as they continue to improve birth outcomes.

No more feeling overwhelmed and stuck if labor stalls. With the right tools, you can educate, triage, and advocate for physiologic birth.

💡 Your patients deserve a nurse who is an expert in birth.

Abigail

Wow! This class was amazing and gave me all the feels. I’m so excited to add some new techniques to my toolbox to continue to support women in labor. I really loved how this class was taught, it was exciting and engaging, and the visuals gave me LIFE!

Catherine

This class is exactly what I needed. I’ve been a L&D nurse for 10 years and I was never taught how to physiologically support birth. I feel like I have so many tools now to aid my patients. Sarah was an amazing instructor. I loved Sarah’s enthusiasm and personality. She made learning fun.

Lindsey

I liked how the class touched on everything that could be faced with postpartum breastfeeding education. Teaching empowering moms and supporting decisions

Hands down the best class I have taken for L&D in my career

This was hands down the best class I have taken for labor & delivery in my career. I watched live and watched the recording again so I could take notes. I have worked L&D for quite a while and I was like how do I not know some of these things?? Truly, this is an incredible resource and I so appreciate the time and effort that went into putting it on.

Every L&D nurse needs to take this class!!

Every L&D nurse needs to take this class. I watched it live and then rewatched the recording and took so many notes both times. So good. I learned so much both times and can't wait to keep going back to my notes and keep learning everything! Loved learning how to think holistically about the birth process- not just about "get to 10 then push and have a baby," there are ligaments and muscles and fascia and a baby and pelvis and hormones etc. all involved. Great to learn how each of those things are working and how to optimize physiologic birth.

The whole course was so eye-opening!

The whole course was so eye-opening! I have been a nurse since 2007 and was never formally trained on positioning....just learned it through observation and years of being at the bedside. Tying in the physiology of the pregnant woman's body and how to manage labor at every stage was very educational. The use of different camera angles and props, such as the pelvic bone and the baby were great visual aid. I normally like taking classes in person, but this was a great format for an online class in the way it was presented and set up. This was a really educational class that I highly enjoyed and will be recommending to my colleagues. I love your thirst for knowledge and goal to make labor staffs job not only easier but curtailed to what our patients want from their labor experiences!

I hope to bring this course and knowledge to my unit to make it matter for that "one" and hope to trickle the movement to other nurses, MDs, and patients.
